Mr Michael Hughes
Mr Hughes completed his orthopaedic specialty training with an internationally renowned subspecialty Fellowship at Liverpool Upper Limb Unit and an in-training Fellowship at Wrightington Upper Limb Unit. Fellowships provided Mr Hughes with subspecialty training in complex upper limb elective and tertiary referral trauma surgery, and major trauma surgery.

Mr Hughes has an NHS and private elective practice specialising in keyhole and open shoulder surgery, shoulder replacement surgery and disorders of the shoulder girdle.
Mr Hughes was trained in the North West, completing Higher Surgical Training in Mersey Deanery after Core Surgical Training in Manchester. Mr Hughes graduated with Honours from Liverpool Medical School in 2010.

Prehospital
Mr Hughes is the Medical Director of Cheshire Search & Rescue Team, which he has been a member of for over 10 years. Mr Hughes is an active team member and party leader, and has completed and provided training in varying disciplines from wide area search, water rescue, working at height etc. The team members all give their time voluntarily to the charity. Mr Hughes is a Fellow of the Institute of Search & Technical Rescue.

Mr Hughes is a member of BASICS, the British Association of Immediate Care Schemes, and has been a pre-hospital critical care doctor with North West Prehospital Critical Care Charity since 2018. Mr Hughes performs this work voluntarily and receives no payment or financial support. The work is challenging and varied, Mr Hughes is dispatched via North West Ambulance control via radio whenever expert medical assistance is required on-scene. This may be complex decision making, performing advanced surgical procedures, or emergency anaesthesia.
Due to the nature of the region, Mr Hughes predominantly attends serious Road Traffic Collisions, however he has extensive experience in treating adults and children with severe injuries or serious medical problems in the prehospital environment.
Mr Hughes is a doctor with the North West Ambulance Service MERIT team, and has had extensive major incident and mass casualty incident training.
