Mike Hughes is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Major Trauma Surgeon at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Trust & Renacres Private Hospital.
 

Mike is Fellowship trained in Shoulder & Elbow surgery, particularly sports injuries, keyhole surgery, shoulder replacements, and complex upper limb trauma.
 

Mike also has an interest in complex problems occurring after trauma such as fracture related infections, non-unions, and metalwork problems.
 

In addition, Mike is a Major Trauma surgeon and is experienced in managing complex trauma, polytrauma, blunt chest trauma & rib fixation and is a Trauma Team Leader still working regular shifts in A&E.
 

Mike regularly instructs on the European Trauma Course and, outside of work, volunteers as a Prehospital Critical Care Doctor.
 

Mike is involved with the care of trauma patients at every step, from roadside to long-term follow-up.
 

A keen biker himself, Mike has a special interest and expertise in motorcycle accidents and devotes a lot of his time to the DocBike injury prevention charity.
